A word from a soldier in the field.
Diary of a Soldier
It was my turn to take the evening watch at
headquarters. Friday was never a good time, the hordes of the enemy
would practically inundate us. Lining up to partake of our Nanite laced
Buffalo Wings. It had been a hard week at the front, pulling double duty
a few days before and suffering from a slight wound from hot grease
shrapnel I was starting to question my place in the cause.
Sometimes you lose yourself in the hordes of
the enemy and lose direction. That was me, I had forgotten what it was
we were fighting for. Lost in the drudgery of day to day fighting, I
lost sight of our all-important goal. Serving rounds of beer and orders
of Buffalo Wings watching the enemy slowly and un-knowingly converted
into the fold and always with a smile on their face while I am down in
the trenches slowly erodes my resolve.
Thankfully, every once in awhile a day comes
along that reminds you of the greater good. Today was such a day. I was
not looking forward to going on duty, the usual enemy was filling up the
headquarters along with new reinforcements shoring up their line. With a
sense of dread I donned my uniform. Taking my station I assumed my tried
and true demeanor as discussed in the "Buffalo Wing World
Domination" field guide. I then went about in my usual way serving
and infecting the enemy, but in a disconnected sort of way.
I was about half way through my appointed shift
when a group entered with several small children. I took small notice at
first as I served them our latest batch of the secret sauce. But as they
ate a small girl kept following me with her big round eyes. When I would
try to return her gaze she would quickly look away. As this went on I
could not help but to cheer up. When I returned to the table to check on
the rate of infection, the little girl hugged me around the legs and
thanked me for my diligent service. It was then that it dawned on me
again that here was the very reason I had joined BWWD, To ensure the
future happiness and well being of the children, To provide them with
the utopia that we all have dreamed of.
Now I hold my chin high once again and if ever
I lose my way again, I have only to look into the eyes of a child to
remind me why I do it all. And why it is so important that we achieve
ultimate victory! All hail the Avian Bison!
